Cycling 20 km For The First Time With My New Bicycle

I did not really know how to express anger, sadness or joy so I just cycled 20 km straight away for no particular reason (round trip from my starting point) with one full water bottle on countryside roads. It took me roughly one hour and a few minutes. The view was incredible and the scenery with the mountains and the forest really rejuvenated me. I felt the joy of freedom and just cycling eternally into nature. By the end of it, I was incredibly tired and out of breath. My heart was racing and my throat felt a bit dry. I drank the remaining half of the entire water bottle in almost one sip.  I had a hard time standing straight afterwards, because my legs felt really jelly. I forgot to carry my phone with me so I could not track my speed, calories spent, heart rate or distance which I intend to do for my future bicycle trips. That experience gave me a glimpse of confidence that six hours of cycling is not just doable, but achievable within one week of training. Honestly it was not as mentally and physically hard as I imagined, because the fun far outweighed the pain! I was just going for it without much thinking and just chasing freedom and proud that nobody can ever take it away from me. I was testing my bicycle even more with the different gear combinations and trying to understand the whole biking experience. I was also glad I bought one with a flat raiser handlebar instead of drop bars, because it felt more comfortable and controllable.  For my next ride, I will aim to cycle for two hours which should be equivalent to about 40 km round trip from my starting point. I will also pay attention to how I should pace myself to conserve my energy. I will bring with me additional gear on the road listed on my checklist. I will also track some data about my performance using an app on my phone just to get some insights about the experience.
