First Impressions of the Hybrid Bicycle AVP HC2000

This post is about my first impressions on the hybrid bicycle I recently purchased after following my guide.

Quick Word On My Approach

Going to an actual bike shop has been massively beneficial for me, because I had so many misconceptions about purchasing a hybrid bicycle. I thought that a high quality one would cost at least 2500 USD but the bike expert completely shattered such misconception.

My Emotions

Buying one was very exciting, because I have always had the same bicycle ever since my early teenage years. It really felt like I was purchasing something as massive as a car that will have a long lasting impact on my life. I was proud that all of these years of hard work would finally pay off by being able to afford it. Even though it might not appear like so unlike many other kinds of purchases, that’s what it felt like at the moment of buying it. I bought a  large size hybrid bicycle dark blue AVP HC2000 model for men from a local bike shop (see below).

My hybrid bicycle

Since I was not used to riding with a large size 20 inches (50.8 cm) frame bike, I was initially worried that my feet were not touching the ground when I first sat  and held still. However, it was just a matter of habit because I was used to much smaller bicycles. I was very careful when handling it and I inspected it a couple times to understand its characteristics.

Test Ride!

I took it on a test ride for the first time (see here link) and it felt amazing! I was riding very slowly to adjust to the size difference while keeping my body balanced. It was the first time I got to use a handlebar with thumb gear shifters instead of hand twisted ones which felt so much less straining to me especially when thinking about longer rides!  It took me a bit of time to learn some proper braking techniques whether abruptly or gradually. Similarly, I had to understand my weight distribution with regards to the braking feel and safety distances in case I ever got myself into an emergency. Understanding my unique riding experience was paramount before embarking on longer journeys. I will make sure to perform the necessary maintenance procedures such as regular lubrication,  tire inspection and pumping or overall cleaning. For now, I am satisfied with the purchase and I look forward to testing it for long-distances. I will write additional posts with updates on its conditions after extensive usage so still more to come!
